International Tenor & Emerging Artist
Douglas Kelly is an internationally performing tenor with extensive experience in opera, oratorio and as a recitalist. He has been a prize-winner at the Australian Herald Sun Aria (2018) and National Liederfest (2018, 2019) and was a 2025 Emerging Artist with Victorian Opera.
His recent performance as Prunier in Puccini's La Rondine won him Best Supporting Role in an Opera at the 2025 Green Room Awards. He has been praised as "charismatic in voice" and "powerfully convincing" (Arts Hub).
His operatic credits span works by Janáček, Verdi, Mozart, Puccini, Dove, Cesti, Monteverdi, Stravinsky, and Purcell. As a recitalist, he has presented Schubert's Die Schöne Müllerin and Winterreise at the Melbourne Recital Centre, and recitals of Britten, Wolf and Schumann cycles at fortyfivedownstairs and in Baden bei Wien, Austria, with the Schubert Institut.
In masterclass and on stage, Douglas has worked with such musicians as Roger Vignoles, Helmut Deutsch, Wolfram Rieger, Graham Johnson, Robert Holl, Elly Ameling and Andreas Schmidt.
